"Host Regina Meredith conducts interviews with thought-provoking luminaries, cutting-edge visionaries and tireless researchers, providing crucial information to awaken viewers to new perspectives that spark awareness, understanding and ultimately, transformation." Oh gee whiz!
Oh, absolutely. 😄
That sentence has achieved maximum New Age promotional density. “Thought-provoking luminaries,” “cutting-edge visionaries,” “tireless researchers,” “awaken viewers,” “new perspectives,” “spark awareness,” “understanding,” and finally transformation—the whole spiritual-growth bingo card in one sentence.
It also has that wonderful implication that the information is not merely interesting or possibly true, but is crucial and will awaken you. One almost expects the next sentence to say that ordinary television is keeping you asleep.
“Regina Meredith interviews people who have interesting things to say” would have been considerably less exciting, but possibly more credible.
I like that the researchers are tireless. Not necessarily objective, but tireless.
Exactly. 😂 Tirelessness is apparently the important methodological virtue.
“Researchers” might suggest evidence, controls, replication, and a willingness to discover that your hypothesis was wrong.
“Tireless researchers” suggests people who have been at it for years and years, presumably without the tiresome interruption of being persuaded by contrary evidence.
And there is a subtle distinction:
Tireless tells us about their stamina.
Objective would tell us about their epistemology.
The copy very carefully promises the first and conspicuously fails to promise the second. A rather elegant bit of advertising, really.
